Fact is although it’s true that prenatal test keeps you updated on how your baby is doing and doctors recommend screening test even in the last trimester to make sure everything is alright. But it all depends on how you feel about it and if you want to take the test or not. You can accept or decline the tests according to your choice.
Also if you do choose to take these tests you must know the risk and benefits involved with the tests. Some of the tests that doctors might recommend you include:
Routine screening- this test includes a blood test, urine test, and full physical test to check your Rh factor and other medical conditions like anemia, hepatitis B, syphilis, HIV, immunity to chickenpox and rubella, cystic fibrosis, etc. Providers usually recommend this test irrespective of family health history and to ensure that the baby is safe.
Other tests might include ultrasound, glucose screening, group B strep test, nonstress test, and contraction stress test based on your age, health, and family history.
